Launch Invitation: ‘Against the Odds: The Victory over Conscription in World War I’

Against the Odds tells the story of how diverse groups and individuals collectively defeated conscription during World War I and left a lasting legacy for Australia.  It highlights the role of Brunswick – Coburg activists in the successful anti-conscription campaign.  The film complements events organized by of the Brunswick Coburg Anti-Conscription Commemoration Campaign (BCACCC) to publicise this momentous period in local and national history.

The launch event will include:

  • Prof. Barry Jones
  • Official launch
  • Screening of short film
  • Dr Martin Bush, curator and Ms Madeleine Martiniello, filmmaker.

The digital story has been created for the Culture Victoria website (cv.vic.gov.au) with the support of the Victorian Government through Culture Victoria.  ‘Against the Odds’ is produced by the Australian Living Peace Museum with support from Brunswick Coburg Anti-Conscription Commemoration Campaign (BCACCC).
