THE BIOGRAPHICAL REGISTER OF THE AUSTRALIAN LABOUR MOVEMENT
For over 11 years John Shields and Andrew Moore have been compiling the Biographical Register of the Australian Labour Movement. You can read about their objectives, progress, and achievements here. This is a significant undertaking that allows us to identify and celebrate the many men and women whose dedication to the labour movement has changed the course of Australian history. Here, we present the names and biographies of those active in Victoria included in the Register. We would like to extend our appreciation to John Shields and Andrew Moore for sharing their research with us. This page is a work in progress, if you would like information on one of the activists listed but whose biography has not yet been uploaded please contact the Melbourne Branch.

I believe the entry on “Charles Edward JAMES” refers to my great grandfather, Charles Edmund JAMES, 1868-1944. He was secretary of the VCMA at Outtrim, and later lived at Abermain NSW. How may I obtain a copy of his biographical sketch from the Register, please?
Hi Peter, Very sorry for the long delayed reply. We have updated the information, which you can access here: https://labourhistorymelbourne.org/james-charles-edward-1868-1944/
With thanks, Julie
